Following on from a summer of sport, a series of five ‘Speedo Sunday’ sessions will be held across London to drive participation in swimming. The sessions will give local communities the opportunity to trial different swimming activities at their local ‘Better Leisure Centre’ and will show that swimming is not only great exercise but can be fun!
A different ‘Better Leisure Centre’ will host the Speedo Sunday every week to provide a taster of what is on offer poolside at each centre with the aim of encouraging people to take the plunge.
The first event is being held at Clapham Leisure Centre on Sunday 16 September. Aqua tots swim lessons, Swim fitness sessions, ‘Swim it to win it’ races and waterpolo taster sessions will all be on offer on the day.
The event will be held from 1pm until 5pm and will cost from as little as £1 for a child’s entry and £3 for an adult.
Olympian and 50m backstroke World Record Holder Liam Tancock will be attending Speedo Sunday at Clapham to lead an exclusive Master Class for local club members, as well as taking part in the rest of the day’s events.
With the aim of inspiring people to get in the pool whether it is to take the kids for a swim, do some laps or just take some time out for themselves, Speedo Sunday’s will be held at the following locations:
| Clapham Leisure Centre | 16 September |
| Clissold Leisure Centre | 23 September |
| Barnet Copthall | 30 September |
| Eltham Leisure Centre | 7 October |
| Mile End Park Leisure Centre | 14 October |
